Sgt. Corey J. Aultz Army Sgt. Corey J. Aultz, 31, of Port Orchard, was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany, Aultz died Jan. 30 at Ramadi, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations.

Staff Sgt. Christopher Bunda Staff Sgt. Christopher Bunda, 29. Stryker brigade soldier drowned Jan. 25, 2004, patrolling in police boat that capsized in Tigris River. Body recovered Feb. 10. Bunda is the first West Sound soldier to die in Operation Iraqi Freedom. More about Staff Sgt. Bunda

Staff Sgt. Michael Lee Burbank Staff Sgt. Michael Lee Burbank, 34, of Bremerton, died Oct. 11, 2004, in Mosul when a vegetable truck loaded with explosives blew up his Stryker military vehicle, leaving a 5-foot deep crater. Ten soldiers under his command were injured. Burbank was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Lewis. A Bremerton High graduate and seven-year-Army veteran, he was scheduled to come home in a week. Wife, Shela Culley, Bremerton. More about Staff Sgt. Burbank

Pfc. Devon Gibbons Pfc. Devon Gibbons, Port Orchard, died June 23rd 2006 at the Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Tex., of injuries sustained on April 11 when a makeshift bomb exploded near his Bradley fighting vehicle during combat operations in Taji. He was a cavalry scout with the 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division based at Fort Hood, Texas. More about Pfc. Gibbons

Pfc. Charles B. Hester Pfc. Charles B. Hester, 23, died in Baghdad, on May 26, 2007, when his vehicle was hit by a homemade bomb. Hester was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, with the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis’ Stryker Brigade Combat Team, which has been in Iraq since June. Kane, 35, Belfair, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Oct. 14, 2009 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad. Bryce Jetson Reidinger Bryce Jetson Reidinger, 20, of Silverdale died Saturday, November 22, 2008, in Southern California. Bryce was serving as a Lance Corporal Infantryman in the United States Marine Corp with First Battalion, 5th Marines, C Company, of Camp Pendleton, CA. After a successful seven-month deployment with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, he was scheduled to redeploy early next year. More about LCPL Reidinger

Sgt. 1st Class Johnny C. Walls Sgt. 1st Class Johnny C. Walls, 41, died November 2, 2007 in Operation Enduring Freedom. Sgt Walls was killed when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire during combat operations in Uruzgan, Afghanistan.
